The forum has been open for one and a half weeks. In that time, I have received 374 requests from authors and others to have their own Creator Board. I compiled a waiting list before we opened to the public. In addition, there's a thread of requests here thekeenedom.freeforums.net/thread/223/creator-board-requests and my email inbox, text messages on my phone, DMs on Twitter, and private messages here are full of additional requests.
374. Obviously, we cannot accommodate that. Go out to the forum's main page and scroll down. Now imagine scrolling through 374 more of them.
If you are an author, artist, musician, or any other type of creative with something to promote, or you are looking to engage with your fans, and you DO NOT have a Creator Board here, you are still welcome to do both of those things.
* Here is an entire board dedicated to announcements, new releases, and other promotions. Anyone can post there: thekeenedom.freeforums.net/board/56/announcements-spam-celebrations-community-news
* Here is an entire board where readers are talking about their favorite books and authors. If you are one of those authors, you are welcome to engage with folks there. Here is a fine example from Armand Rosamilia, who does not have a Creator Board here, but is engaging and conversing with his readers in a dedicated thread about his works: thekeenedom.freeforums.net/thread/434/armand-rosamilia
In addition -- the moderators and I will -- over time -- monitor the existing Creator Boards for usage and engagement. If there is simply not enough engagement, or the creator in question hasn't logged in regularly to respond to fans, then those boards are probably better suited as a thread than an entire section, and we will convert them as such. (Nothing will be deleted. We will simply merge all of the threads into that section into a single thread, and then move the discussion to the Community section.
For an example, I'll point to my pal Robert Ford. Bob is under some very demanding deadlines right now, and doesn't have time to check in on a regular basis, so we consolidated his board into a thread, and compiled it here thekeenedom.freeforums.net/thread/426/robert-ford.
We've done the same for Gabino Iglesias and a few other creators. thekeenedom.freeforums.net/thread/530/gabino-iglesias
That's not meant to call anyone out. Laird Barron, for example, is very sick right now. Michael Allan Rose has been traveling. They're participation has been understandably limited as a result. We don't expect creators to live here 24/7. But we also don't want ghost boards with no activity taking up valuable space. So... if you are a creator who has their own board here, and you haven't logged in in a month to interact with folks, and you find that your section is missing --- it's not. it's just been consolidated to conserve space and make room for others.
Over time, the moderators and I will add new creator boards, pulling from the already existing waiting list of 374 people. (For example, next week Douglas E. Winter's board will be added). Not everyone will get a board. If you are only here to get a board, then this place will probably not serve your needs. However, if you are here to talk shop with other writers and talk books and other cool media with other fans, then welcome home.
