Between January 1990 and October 1996, I wrote eight full-length novels for Zebra Books (before they shut down their horror line due to the great Horror Implosion of the mid-1990s).
My mass market paperbacks with Zebra include:
Hindsight / originally titled "The Tobacco Barn" / January 1990 / A psychic child during the Great Depression uses her gift of second sight to uncover a triple murder and bring the killers to justice.
Pitfall /originally titled "Pit Devils" / July 1990 / An Apache outcast named Bowie Kane must save the little West Texas town that has ostracized him when Tasmanian Devils -- smuggled into the States and trained for "pit devil" fits -- break loose and wreak havoc.
Something Out There / originally titled "The Dark'Un / A rising artist must return to her hometown to help the citizens battle the head of a ruthless corporation, who has plans to strip mine the area, starting with nearby Pale Dove Mountain. Only she knows the truth about the race of albino changelings that live there... as well as the dark creature known as the Dark'Un, who will stop at nothing to protect the mountain and its inhabitants.
Moon of the Werewolf / originally titled "Undertaker's Moon" / A family of Irish undertakers move to a rural Tennessee town and sets up shop at the local funeral home. After the disappearance of a high school football star and several others, two teenagers, a widowed gunsmith, and a mysterious stranger discover that they are a coven of werewolves who feed upon the recently deceased... as well as the living.
Father's Little Helper / originally titled "Twelve Gauge" / A confused young man becomes a shotgun-toting serial killer after his executed father -- who was convicted of killing multiple people at a Christmas pageant -- returns from the dead and schools his son in the art of murder, in order to finish the horrifying Christmas Day Massacre of Cedar Bluff.
The Possession / originally titled "Burnt Magnolia" / After restoring an old antebellum mansion, a romance writer, a horror artist, and a historical parapsychologist are possessed by anguished spirits and unwittingly react a deadly night during one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War.
Fear / originally titled "Fear County" / When a ravenous snake creature invades a rural Tennessee community, a farm boy named Jeb Sweeny and several companions journey into the dark and evil depths of Fear County in search of the fabled Granny Woman, who may possess the magic to conquer the monster and bring other troubles in Jeb's young life to an end.
Blood Kin (Original title) / When a mountain farmer unearths an ancient casket in an unmarked grave, he unleashes an Appalachian preacher turned vampire on the nearby town of Green Hollow, Tennessee. As the blood thirsty Grandpappy Craven begins to turn his decedents into an unholy congregation of the undead, an alcoholic carpenter, a meek preacher's wife, and an ex-soldier mountain man are the only ones with the nerve to travel to Craven Mountain to battle Grandpappy and his legion of nosferatu.
