This is a new-ish show that's currently available on Freevee. It came out in 2020, but I don't think a whole ton of people have seen it. The show was created by Dean Devlin (Leverage, among others) and stars Christian Kane (Leverage, Angel, The Librarians). Kane plays an ex-DEA agent who has retired to a small island in the Philippines to run a gift shop. He was forced to retire due to medical issues, namely high stress causing heart problems. The gist is that he needs to relax before his heart just decides to explode on him one day. In his DEA career, he worked a lot of long-term undercover assignments. During one of those jobs early in his career, he spent a little time on this island and fell in love with it. It has been several years since he was here last and he finds that the place has been built up considerably with resorts and such.
The basic premise of the show is that he develops a working relationship with the local police department and helps them out with cases, even though he's supposed to be avoiding stress. There's lots of action and tons of beautiful scenery. I'll admit that I'm a fan of Christian Kane. I've liked everything Dean Devlin has produced thus far, too.
We're not talking high-brow entertainment here. Just popcorn for the brain. If you've seen Leverage (more so the original run rather than the newer iteration), this is at about that same level of writing and realism. They are filming a new season now, but I'm not sure when it will air.
