1. With social media fracturing and splintering into a multitude of scattered platforms, this community is intended to be a hub -- a giant circus tent where everyone can find each other and engage with one another, free from the pitfalls of social media. To that end, certain rules must be adhered to.
2. 'Don't be an asshole'. It's that simple. If you want to argue about politics or social or religious issues, take it to social media. This is not the place for it. Creators are welcome to discuss these issues (and anything else they are passionate about) in their sections. If you don't agree with them, move on to another creator's section. If you want to fight with them, then you are being an asshole.
3. I (Brian Keene, aka your host, i.e. the guy paying for this set-up with his own money) am a fervent defender of free speech, including really terrible free speech. However, I am also a fervent defender of 'Fuck Around And Find Out'. While I will defend your right to say repugnant things, you do not have the right to say them here, in this community that I am paying for. What kind of repugnant things am I talking about? Use your head. Anything racist or xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, etc. are grounds for banning. Any threats of violence or harm to another group or another member are also immediate grounds for banning. Basically, don't be an asshole to people for the color of their skin, their gender, their sexual orientation, their political party, their religious beliefs, or anything else. If you feel the need to do those things, then this is not the community for you. Go back to social media. We do not want you here.
4. Arguing with the moderators is a big no-no. Your moderators are (by User Name) debkuhn, dezm, kentgowran, noigel, todclark, and val. They are volunteering their time to make this a safe and fun environment for all. Treat them as you would me. If you can't do that, then say goodbye.
5. We may, on occasion, preemptively ban individuals from this community if they have a demonstrable track record of engaging in the above behavior elsewhere online.
6. Don't spam in the individual Creator's sections. If you have something you'd like to share or promote, we have an entire section devoted to that under the Culture forums (scroll all the way down). Do it there to your heart's content, but the Creator sections are for those specific creators.
7. What is the procedure if you break the rules? That depends on the nature of the offense, prior behavior, and other factors. You may receive a warning. You may be temporarily restricted. Or you may be banned (and all future accounts you attempt to create will also be auto-banned).
Be respectful to one another. It's that easy.
