I'm working on a story for the Flame Tree Press call that's due this coming Monday, November 14. It's called "If You Don't Want a Cat, Don't Get a Kitten" and might be very loosely inspired by Keene's kitten adventures.
Scribbling furiously to keep up with my Historian of Horror blog posts and articles for HorrorAddicts.net. The next blog post should be disseminated shortly, an examination of the life and career of Screaming Lord Sutch, 3th Earl of Harrow. Who? you might well ask. You can find out all about him and his, um, unique contributions to horrific popular music on the blog.
The first issue of Horror Curated should be available soon, in which I wax rhapsodic over Christmas ghost stories NOT called A Christmas Carol. The spring issue will contain my exposition upon the Saki tale, "Sredni Vashtar", and a review of the 1945 British portmanteau film, Dead of Night. I'm starting to accumulate material for the Halloween issue, which will cover old time radio broadcasts that aired on and around said holiday.
I'm also amassing reference materials for a non-fiction book I'm calling The Music of the Night: 400 Years of Spooky Songs and Monstrous Melodies.
I've started on a third novel in my hard-boiled supernatural mystery series. Experienced Corruption has zombies in it. Beyond that, deponent sayeth nothing.
And I've been considering a new work exploring the role the Hungarian serial killer Bela Kiss might have played in the restoration of Dracula to unlife near the end of the First World War. Don't have a title for it yet, but one will come to me. They always do.

I just shelved a project I've been working on since the summer because I can't get a handle on the characters. I'll return to it sometime down the road but lately the writing on it has been miserable. Going to resurrect a story about a couple of inept kidnappers who take the wrong woman hostage. Kind of like a supernatural John Wick.

Weekday Mornings: First draft of SPLINTERED: THE LABYRINTH BOOK 3 and Patreon Weekday Afternoons: Final drafts of GWENDY's BUTTON BOX adaptation and INVISIBLE MONSTERS, and revisions on a new edition of LEADER OF THE BANNED Saturdays: Newsletter and Scares That Care Sundays: J.F. Gonzalez estate and something I talked about on yesterday's Blog entry.
FORBIDDEN SHADOWS (the 13th Jonathan Shade novel) - need to skim the previous books to get back in that mode as it's been a few years.
"Cavern of the Whispering Skulls" - a story to keep the words flowing while I finish the research on the novel.
I've also agreed to ghost-write a 6-book series because I'm getting paid decent advances and 50% royalties for them. I turned in book 1 at the end of October. When I receive the advance for book 2, I'll drop everything to write that.

I've kinda lost my passion for writing over the last couple years, but I'm slowly, creakily beginning to organize a short story collection since I apparently have enough previously published stuff to justify one. Also did a small bit of work on the third and final volume in the Salem Hawley series. After these two get released...who knows.

Editing my second supernatural/cosmic horror novel set in 1970s London. Started work on it before the pandemic and for reasons I still don't fully understand it all kind of got away from me. Had to more or less rewrite the thing from the beginning and was onto a fourth draft before it was back under control.
I like these glimpses into what everyone is working on.
I'm on a final read through of a novella called Baby Fights, then off to my editor. 2nd draft of a short story I wrote for an invite. One novellette left and the wrap around story for something called This Damned House. Outlining a few projects too. And working with Jack Bantry on our author's preferred edition of Ain't Worth a Shit.
And I got a great goddamned idea for a book this morning that's seriously threatening to add itself to the workload.
I'm finishing up the final edits for Kin of the Fallen, my slasher VS bikers novel, so I can get it in before the pre-order deadline. After that, I need to finish a couple of anthology stories and Diablo Snuff VS Gods of the Dark Web which is the book that combines my dark world with Lucas Mangum's. We've had a blast working on it. My next novel will probably be the prequel to Scalp, my parasitic head lice book.
I'm loving this thread. It's cool seeing what everyone's working on.
reggielutz: @johiay: lol it was a bar in Mountaintop PA. Currently the Mountaintop Pub and Eatery. I wasn't around at all when they filmed there but I just heard about it. And I didn't see the episode but it aired last night. My brain just went, "Whaaaat!?!"
