Gizmodo has a lot of coverage (including updates), starting here.
The case involves YouTuber oldschoolmtg who got a box of unreleased Magic: The Gathering cards by mistake. (He believes the vendor got confused because he ordered ordered March of the Machine: Collectors -- and the vendor, who wasn't an MTG fan, accidentally sent him March of the Machine: The Aftermath.)
oldschoolmtg made some unboxing videos and showed some of his new cards. And as he discusses in a short video. WotC responded by ... sending Pinkerton agents to his door. (He later learned they also went to his neighbors' houses and asked them questions.) The Pinkerton agents accused him of possessing "stolen goods" and demanded he give them the boxes (and allegedly threatened to have him arrested even though they are private security agents).

This occurrence is how a lot of fans learned that Pinkerton agents still exist. And how many of those fans learned for the first time about their involvement in union busting. (Fans whose families worked in coal mines are fully aware of what Pinkerton agents are capable of and were not happy about what WotC did!) Gizmodo also revealed this wasn't the first time WotC used Pinkerton agents.
While many fans are upset, other fans are siding with WotC -- because leaks are bad, the gamer should have known better than to post the videos, etc. Some have also accused the journalists criticizing this of being "clout chasers." But what WotC did seems really badly timed because it comes on the heels of the OGL controversy.
There are also more fan videos on YouTube, so if you watch one video on this, you'll find many more. If you want to see a video done from a legal perspective, try this one.
