Somehow it's not letting me log in right now, but...Thanks TJ. I interviewed Mike shortly after Hellboy was first published, for a magazine called FLUX. We got to talking during that call and it was the beginning of thirty years of friendship and collaboration.
I just wanted to say, I read THE GATHERING DARK when I was in my early twenties. I loved that book. I didn't even read the previous books in the saga, I just dug the cover so much I had to buy it. Sometime soon, I am going to have to read the entire saga.

Thanks!! There are seven books in all, so that should take a while. After that, it really depends on what interests you the most and if you're the kind of reader who likes to go back to the beginning or to read the highlights, etc.
I know Chris is probably tired of hearing me go on and on about this series he co-wrote with Tom Sniegoski, but I thought I'd start a thread about it anyway
This is a four-book series (though I'm still holding out hope that someday a fifth will surface) that features a decidedly eclectic group of individuals who come together to save the world. My understanding is that this was originally intended to be a comic book series, and I recall seeing some sketches that were done once upon a time. However, they decided to go the novel route with the story. I hesitate to give out too much information about the characters, as I don't know what some might be considered spoilers, but everything I'm listing here was mentioned by Booklist or on the authors' websites.
Mr. Doyle -- a very long-lived sorcerer, who also happens to have created Sherlock Holmes Eve - yes, that Eve, the very first woman, who has become a vampire Clay - a being formed from the very dust God used to create all creatures Danny Ferrick - a teenage boy who is discovering he isn't actually human Dr. Leonard Graves - a pulp hero from days gone by Squire - a goblin with a penchant for junk food and weaponry Lady Ceridwen - a member of otherworldly royalty
I'm a big fan of Golden books in general, but the Menagerie series remains one of my all-time favorites by any author. The cover art for these books is also incredible. I'm particularly fond of the cover for book 4, Crashing Paradise.

Both this and the Shadow Saga were friggin amazing. I loved the interesting characters. I recommended these books for so long to my friends. I could see either of these translating very well to a Netflix show or something along those lines. I would instantly consume anything new in either of these. Maybe a graphic novel adaptation???
reggielutz: @johiay: lol it was a bar in Mountaintop PA. Currently the Mountaintop Pub and Eatery. I wasn't around at all when they filmed there but I just heard about it. And I didn't see the episode but it aired last night. My brain just went, "Whaaaat!?!"
