The forum has been active for 24 hours now, and things have run pretty smoothly. The servers have had a few hiccups when too many people try to register at once, but otherwise all systems seem go. However, out there on social media, there's been some talk about how the Creator Boards here are elitist, etc. And I know that many of you have asked about how to get one. So, in the interests of transparency, let's run through my thought process.
I got the idea for this forum on Monday night. I threw it together yesterday (Tuesday) and announced it today (Wednesday). With social media fragmenting and more and more horror fans splintering as they go to different places, I wanted this place to serve as a hub -- a giant circus tent where people could find each other outside of social media. That only works if there are active users. So I created a section of Community Boards where everyone could post and discuss anything. And then I made a section of Creator Boards dedicated to specific authors, filmmakers, directors, actors, musicians and screenwriters -- where they could interact one on one with their fans in a setting that is more laid back and intimate than social media. The idea was that, too, would bring in active users. I think we selected a widely diverse group of Creators for that.
Now... eventually we will add more Creator Boards. But we are not adding them tonight, not this week, nor probably this month. We will add them in stages because quite simply, I need to see what our traffic is going to be like before I go adding anything else and potentially be charged more. Plus, I'm sure over time there will be a few creators who decide they don't prefer this format, thus freeing up space.
So yes, over time, we will continue to add more and more Creator Boards. I'm still sitting on a few for folks who were interested but haven't had time to set theirs up yet. And we'll continue to add more after that.
In the meantime -- AND THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART -- all creators, be they writers, directors, actors, musicians, comedians, or the guy who makes beautiful sculptures from the lint he pulls out of his belly button -- are welcome to post here. In the Community Boards, there's an entire section devoted to announcements. Tell us about your new release there. Or in one of the other sections, you might find folks talking about your book or movie or latest album. Feel free to interact with them. Please interact with them. Just because you don't have a dedicated Board doesn't mean you aren't a part of this community.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Hopefully this clears up any concerns you might have.
