Hello All!
In writing news this week, I added several more chapters to both Bishop and The Generator, which are both still on track to be available for AuthorCon, knock on wood, and Amazon’s cooperation. LOL!
I sent out two new blurbs for some amazing books that were sent my way and was asked to do two more. I also got a new anthology invite which I was honored to accept. This is shaping up to be a busy year but also an awesome one. I look forward to sharing all these new stories with you.
I spent some time this week redesigning my logo which you will begin to see over the next month. I also created a t-shirt and magnet design to go with it. The new phrase “Be the Kindness in the Dark” is my motto as many of you know from my Twitter posts. This represents who I am as a person. I strive for kindness, regardless of what I am going through, as many others are dealing with darkness in their own lives. Empathy and compassion go a long way toward recognizing our humanity and sometimes, that small act of kindness can save a life.
My tagline for the website, “Bringing you the best in horror, one uncomfortably dark page at a time” will remain as this is my mission, my purpose and my promise to the community. We will review and feature all authors from all backgrounds, cultures, races, and lifestyles. If a book meets our policy for content and one of our reviewers can award it 3 more stars, then we will post, share, and promote it. This is how we fulfill our mission to bring you the best in horror.
We had another great week on the website, including the addition of more authors and reviewers on the Indie Horror page. Great reviews for Godless selections, plus reviews by Mort Stone and Christina Pfeiffer. For Black History month, we had authors Michelle Lane and Guy Quintero come on for interviews. I really enjoyed hearing what they had to say, and I really hope you will check out their interviews and their work.
Author chats for the week were mostly done via text message with one author that I am mentoring as well as a great team chat with the hosts of the Dead Headspace podcast, which have graciously added me as a semi-regular guest host on their show which has been an incredible opportunity for me. You may know Brennan LaFaro, the author of Noose and Slattery Falls. Patrick McDonough is also an author and editor, and their lovely co-host is Erica Robyn. If you are not checking out their show, please do, as they do a great job and have incredible talent lined up for the year plus many awesome episodes from the last couple of years available to watch/listen to now.
Trapped packages are being shipped out and more will go out this week and next. There is one more delivery coming early next month and that will be it for this run for the hardcovers unless I am met with high demand. Of course, you can always get the eBook or paperback on godless or Amazon.
The Indie Horror page continues to expand, and more plans have been outlined for the full site. I hope to launch the independent site in June and cannot wait to share it with the community. If you are a member of the Patreon, your donations are going directly to help support the creation of this website for the indie community as a whole. It will be a one-stop shop for all things indie horror, including resources for authors with lists and links for editors, reviewers, cover artists, formatters and more. For readers, you’ll be able to find all of your favorite authors plus links to their sites, shops, podcasts and more. There will be a list of open calls and much more once the site reaches full launch in June.
That’s all for my updates for this week. I am here. I am dark and always uncomfortable. How was your week?
