Hello All.
Yes, I've been a bit quiet on here. Sorry for that. It's been a rough few months for me. Long story short, getting divorced and just moved from my house. Lot of changes, but change can be good. This was a good change for many reasons. I am still unpacking several hundred books and need more bookshelves but that's a good problem to have.
I've had some paper supply issues with the hardcover for Trapped that has been frustrating to no end, but I finally do have confirmation that we are set to print over the next week, after many weeks of delays. Sadly, I am not the only publisher dealing with this.
For the website, plans are slowly being built to create a full Indie Horror site for the community. It will feature reviews from all outlets, including my own team. Resource pages for publishers, authors, reviewers, artists, and editors. Tips and articles on the craft and the business written by community members. Links for events, signings, shows, and cons. If you are appearing somewhere, I want to know. If you are holding an event, I want to know. If it is indie horror related, Let ME KNOW! LOL. The concept is a one-stop shop for the indie horror community. Need to find an author, a book, an event, a con, an open call, come to Uncomfortably Dark. I hope to unveil the fully operational site in June of this year. More details to come.
On that note, I have also started a Patreon to help offset the costs of the website. Tiers start at $3 and go up to $15. Perks include free stories, signed paperbacks, coffee mugs, and more. Please consider joining up and helping to support this very important effort for the community.
I have completed a new novella that I am really proud of and cannot wait to see the final product for myself. My project, The Generator, with Nikolas P. Robinson, Mike Ennenbach, and Eric Butler is well underway and will be available at Authorcon as well as the sequel to Bishop. Both concepts carry rather unique storylines, and I can't wait to see the reactions.
I was also recently featured on the "Rise of Indie Horror" panel for TBRCon'2023 that streamed live on YouTube all of last week. Tim Meyer was the moderator, and my fellow panelists were Hailey Piper, Jonathan Janz, Chad Lutzke, and Zach Rosenberg. It was a lot of fun to be involved and we had a great discussion. It can be viewed on YouTube by searching for TBRCon.
Last night, I was invited to guest host on the Dead Headspace podcast where we interviewed the delightful C.J. Tudor who has just released her new novel, The Drift. This was such a great read, and we had such an interesting conversation with her. I will be guest hosting with Dead Headspace a few more times over the next few months so stay tuned.
And last but not least, Bishop is very close to breaking 100K page reads on Kindle and has 192 reviews so far. I am overwhelmed and grateful for the all the love that my beast has gotten.
So much more to come, but I am here, I am uncomfortable and still dark. How was your week?
